15-20 years ago, IIRC, the SAAMI max pressure for the .357 was lowered, specifically because of the new J frame .357's. There was one rumor going around a few years ago, that the Scandium J frame .357's could break hand bones, if the user was unwise enough to shoot old full power loads, that were intended for large frame revolvers.

I personally saw scandium framed 1911's that were not properly greased and showed excess, premature wear. Remember, the frame is still alloy, and the slide steel and grease is your friend IMHO.

My 642 is aluminum and steel and it's held up fine. Aluminum frames have held up to multiple thousands of rounds. The Scandium is supposed to have 3X the tensile strength of just aluminum.
